BR Striped Knit Sheath Dress

Hello everyone! Happy Mother's Day!
I had the pleasure of visiting NY last weekend. OMG, it is definitely the most exciting busy place I have ever been to. I wish I could have stayed longer because I didn't get to do too much touristy stuff. I did get a chance to catch up with college friends, meet my bf's friends and also with Elle (from FF&FF). I feel like I have known Elle (via blogging) for so long time and it's nice to finally meet her in person. We had a blast shopping in SOHO and eating at Momofuku noodle bar. Elle is so genuine, kind and such a wonderful person. I'm so happy too have met so many wonderful people blogging. It's kind of crazy...haha! My coworkers and mom thinks I'm nuts for meeting people from the internet. LOL!
I haven't stepped foot into BR for the longest time. I was enticed by their 40% off any one full priced item promo, so I decided to go in and browse the store. I actually found a handful of stuff I wanted to try on, but of course everything was just too big except for this Striped Knit Sheath Dress.
Positives:  I am shocked at how small this dress fits compared to most BR dresses. The arm holes are small and waist is nicely fitted. The bust area is also perfect. I'd say this dress fits similar to a H&M 2 or an Asos Petite 0. Also the dress is not lined, but the heavier knit material keeps it from being see through.

Negatives: (see below) I'm kind of on the fence about this dress because of the back. As you can see the material doesn't lay flat and puffs up in the hip area.

What do you think? Is this a winner or is it a return due to the puffing in the back?

  1. Hey Ping!! Glad to see you back! :)

Before I get to the dress...I love the large chain necklace!

The dress is gorgeous! Too bad about the back poof! Do you have any wider belts you could try the dress with? Sometimes just changing the position and width of a belt can help a lot!

Are we going to get to see any pics of you and Elle? And when are you going to visit Vegas?! :p

    1. Hi Michelle!

I'm still trying to convince my bf to go to Vegas. Don't know why he so hesitant especially since he's never been before.
Haha, actually we didn't take pictures! So none to post...

I actually took pictures of the dress without the belt and the puffing is still there. :(

  2. Hmm, if it's not perfect, I think I'd wait for further sale. I love everything about it except the poof though! Stripes / front fit / nautical feel - all of it is great :)

  3. I like the way it looks on you, even with that puffiness! It's hardly noticeable. I say KEEP! :)

  4. Great you are back!

You look really good in that dress from the front, and it was 40% off... I would keep it at least for a while. It would be better you can wear itself but I would go with jacket or something so that I can hide puffiness!

  5. Glad that you two were able to meet in person and had fun shopping =) I love the dress on you. It fits you pretty well (except the back, of course). It's one of those easy dresses that you can practically were everywhere. Do you think you can take it to your tailor for a minor alterations. She/he might be able to fix those back darts to eliminate the puffiness.

  8. Thanks all for your comments! I agree that this dress is definitely awesome in the front, but the back was bugging me too much so I decided to return it. Mb I'll rebuy when it's discounted more and get the back altered?
