A Lemon Zesty Turtleneck Sweater

It's funny how your taste changes as you get older. I used to hate duck, bacon, dark meat, corn, turtlenecks and floral prints. The list of things I used to hate, has now turned into things I enjoy, with the exception of corn. I'm actually really open-minded when it comes to food and will eat weird stuff like gizzards and Asian delicacies, but corn is unpalatable to me. I used to not like wearing turtle necks either and felt like they were so suffocating. I bought a cowl neck sweater a couple of years ago and it was so warm and cozy that the idea of a turtle neck has really begun to grow on me.
This yellow merino turtleneck sweater is currently on final sale from J. Crew and it comes in lots of fun colors. I was initially worried that it would be itchy, but the fabric is actually really soft and comfortable. I'm wearing a size XXXS and it's feels very comparable to other J. Crew items I have in size XXSP with the exception of the sleeves and over length being longer. I prefer the longer lengths since most petite tops are too short for my longer torso and arms. I also have the Tippi sweater (pink wash) in size XXSP and the fabric is rather thin, but a great piece for layering. The pink is a soft blush color which I love and it's fitted throughout the arms and bust and a tiny bit loose in the waist. I think a size XXXS regular would have been a better fit for me. I also love their painter tees (I wear a size XXS since it shrinks in the dryer) and would have taken advantage of the extra discount, but I just purchased one recently during the X-mas sale. I also tried the No. 2 pencil skirt and the 000P fits perfect in the waist which is very rare (my waist size is 24"). I'm always worried about buying things on final sale, so readers please feel free to share with me with what items work for you and are worth getting!!

Light Showers Call for Burberry Rain Boots

Happy Monday everyone! Now that the holidays are over, it's back to casual and comfy outfits! My casual outfits, home clothes and weekend wear all intermix and are pretty much the same thing. The other day I was wearing my J. Crew Painter tee (I have a couple of these since they're so comfy and easy to layer with) and was cooking pasta in it and splashed tomato sauce all over the shirt. Normally, I would beg my bf to help me get the stain out, but I knew the shirt was totally donezo and had to order myself another one.

On another side note, my bf was so generous and got me a gift card to Anthropologie for one of my Christmas gifts. I think he's secretly tired of me going into the store, trying on stuff and not buying anything! LOL! So I've been stalking the website because I fell in love with the Windowpane Car Coat (reviewed here) and saw that the 00P came back in stock. I jumped on ordering that so quickly and also the Shimmer Spot Skirt to wear to my friend's bridal shower that is coming up in a couple of weeks. I'm going to be so mad if I receive an email saying it's out of stock and they won't be shipping my coat because it's currently out of stock again!

Old Favorites

I normally bust out my J. Crew Lady Day coat for the winter season, but the weather has been so chilly lately that it I broke it out earlier than expected. My boyfriend went home to Missouri for Thanksgiving and he said the weather was much warmer compared to SF (which is rare!). I normally don't get sick and haven't in years, but it's so cold that I had the flu for two weeks recently. It wasn't too bad since I didn't have to see anyone with my constant sneezing and sniffling!
I have the version lined with thinsulate and it's the right amount of warmth for 50 degree weather. I love the classic cut of this coat which makes it really versatile to dress up for work with dresses, skirts or trouser pants or worn casually with jeans on the weekends. I'm wearing a 00P and the size is perfect with a sweater underneath. The sleeve length is a tad short, but not enough that it's noticeable. J. Crew came out with a size 000P and I'm curious if anyone has tried it and how much smaller it fits. There's also an array of fun colors I'm loving! A lot of retailers make most of their coats in neutrals and it's unexpected to see an array of brighter and darker options. Current promo: 25% off $100+ or 30% off $150+ with code GIVEMORE. If you're interested in getting the coat, with the discount, the price comes out to be around $255 (before tax).
BP. Trolley Ankle Bootie. I've had these booties for a few years and they've always been my go to. I probably wear these at least a couple of times a week. The cost is under $100, but for shoes that are so comfortable and versatile, it's definitely worth every penny. I usually wear a size 5.5, but I purchased the size 5 and they are still pretty roomy for me. Maybe it's because I have the older version and the newer colors run smaller, but the site does advise to order a 1/2 size up. If I didn't have a budget, I'd definitely get these in the grey and black color as well.
