J. Crew Petite Classic mini in felted wool

J. Crew Petite Classic mini in felted wool. Size 00p.
Measurements: Waist 12.75"/Length 15.5"

I kind of got arrow happy with these pics. LOL.
I actually really like this skirt and the color. The red is very pretty and look just like it does on their website. It is lined and also has a zipper on the back.
My only complaint is that the waist is too big for me. If you look at the picture on the right, you can see how low it sits. The picture on the left, I pinned it back so it sits higher on the waist. I think the skirt looks better that way because it makes my torso appear shorter and my legs longer.

With the 25% discount, this skirt cost me around $75. If I took it to alterations to get the waist taken it, I'm guessing that will take me back another $20. I'm leaning towards getting it altered, because I can see this skirt being very versatile and fun to wear. What do you ladies think, is this skirt worth $95?

Shell from AT (old)/Pressely Pumps by MICHAEL Michael Kors Size 5.5 (RTTS)

I styled it here with a blouse, cardigan and with opaque tights. I think it gives it more of a conservative vibe and can be appropriate for work.
Vince Camuto Amber Bootie (similar)/H&M blouse (old) (similar)/H&M cardigan (old)(similar)

I thought about not getting it altered and using a belt as a cheap fix. Ha! I think it works, but it makes a waist bunch up a little.
FP Sweater (old)(similar)/AT Overlapping Placket Long Sleeve Blouse. 00P/Burberry Rain Boots. Size 6.

BTW I hope everyone had a yummy Thanksgiving!!!
Who's going shopping during Black Friday tomorrow?! I haven't done too much research about deals and what types of discounts retailers are offering, so please do share.

I think your second and third outfits are just adorable. You are so good at putting things together.

  2. Love this skirt on you. Red is your color. My favorite is the first outfit! Yes, definitely have the waist taken in. Hope you & T. had a great Thanksgiving. I didn't go Black Friday shopping this year. As the matter of fact, I am at work right now =)

  3. The skirt looks great! I think red can work for the office as well. I think you should go get it altered. You probably won't be able to find another just like it!

As for sales... I know Ann Taylor has 40% off online and 50% off in stores. J. Crew hardly has anything going on... And that's all I know!

Happy shopping, if you do! :)

  4. I would advise against it getting tailored. The skirt isn't worth the price, in my opinion. I don't think you would get a lot of wear out of it in San Francisco unless you pair it with opaque tights every time you wear it.

  5. Use Kelly's rule...does it make you giddy? If "yes", then get it altered. I think all three outfits are so cute! I love the last one with the rain boots!

No shopping tips here...I have never gone out on Black Friday!

  6. on my screen, it looks orange-y but I like it like that too!!! and great lipstick/gloss color. Kinda matches the skirt. I vote alter, if you're not going to return it. I know it's a skirt, but do you feel it's warmer to wear than other skirts?

  7. Hmm, I think the color and length look great on you but I think I'd wait until it went on further sale. Then again, I can be incredibly cheap so if you love it, keep it :)

  9. Thanks so much to everyone that has commented! I decided to retrun the skirt and wait for a better sale. $75 (for the skirt) + $20 (for alterations) is a tad more than I like to spend on a skirt.

  11. Ohh I have the same problem with these skirts.. How do you pin them in, amy I ask?

  12. Rena-- I just used large safety pins to pin back the extra fabric....it's not a good solution for wearing in public.
