Gap Sleeveless Bell Dress

It was love at first sight, but after the honey moon phase I'm having second thoughts. Haha!
I really liked both dresses when I first tried it on, but after looking at these photos I'm not quite sure I want to keep them anymore.

Gap Sleevesless Colorblock Bell Dress. Size 0P. 50% off original price. It's a good deal if no alterations were needed. It's pretty roomy in the torso area. I'd have to get the top slimmed and the shoulder strap taken up a bit. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble and $. What do you guys think? Return or keep & alter?

Gap Sleeveless Bell Dress. Size 0P. 50% off original price also.
Same issues with this dress as the one above. Given that both dress are the same size, but for some reason the Gap Sleeveless Bell Dress fits even bigger than the Gap Sleevesless Colorblock Bell Dress. My bf think the Gap Sleeveless Bell Dress looks like a potato sack. I'm definitely returning this.

Pressely Pumps by MICHAEL Michael Kors. Size 5.5. Runs true to size & comfy.
Argento Vivo Sea Shell Necklace. (similar by Argento Vivo here & here)

  1. Hi!

I'm a longtime reader and love your recent posts about work outfits. I really like the colorblock bell dress, and vote that you keep it, but it definitely needs some alterations.

And I'm in agreement with your bf about the black version looking like a potato sack; it's huge on you!

  2. I like the first one on you. If you have to keep one, I'd vote for the color block one. You are right in that it's a bit big on you, but I bet it's not all that noticeable when belted. I can't tell, but some pictures show the armholes seem too big too. So I think I just talked myself into voting no for the dresses. :)

  3. I love the colorblock bell dress on you. I actually saw it at the store and I really like it but the regular size is way too big. It seem like a versatile piece that you can even wear as a skirt with a top over or layer over with a jean shirt tied up ^.^ I'm voting to keep.

  4. I also vote for the first one. It looks way better than the black one. If you're going to keep one, please keep the colorblock dress. Are you wearing Asian bumpit in these photos =)? Your hair looks so healthy, Ping. Have a great week!

  5. Rites of Beauty-- Thanks so much for stopping by and introducing yourself. I'll be sure to check out your blog.

Vicky-- LOL! You're right, it is big in the armpits.

Claud-- If I was to keep one, I'd definitely keep the colorblock one. I like the different texture and the fit is much better than the black one.

sydney-- OMG. I was hoping nobody would notice. I got it after seeing Jean's video. My bf made fun of me when I put it in my hair. He said it looks like someone hit my head with a skillet and a the cartoon bump grew as a result. LOL. Maybe I'll stop wearing the asian bump-it and tease my hair instead. *sigh*

  6. I love the black dress more than the color block one! You're right that it seems to fit bigger... but you should keep the black one and alter it. :) I think you'd be happy with the color block dress too if it's altered and you wore a belt along with it. I say keep both! :)

  7. Keep keep keep the first one. I followed in your (and Jean's) footstep and ordered the same dress. I wasn't optimistic before but in looking at your pictures...I think I may have a tough choice ahead of me.

  10. I think you should return both. They are kind of boring. :(

  11. I agree with your bf about the 2nd dress. The 1st one has some potential, but are you okay with the bottom half? I know it's a bell dress but it seems like it could use slimming (in addition to the other alterations you mentioned) which I assume would be complicated because of the pleats. Unless you have a coordinating blazer or somehow just really love it, I would encourage you to send the 1st dress back as well. You could probably find something similar at a similar price requiring less alterations at some place like Asos.

  12. Definitely return the black one.

I love the colorblock one, but...if the armholes bug you, return!

    Your necklace is lovely!

  14. I'm late to the party but I agree with your decision to return both. Such a shame that they both fit so big because they would be so pretty otherwise!

  15. I thought they look OK on you, not the greatest. Good decision to return them, now you will have some $ to buy something else that you will like better ;) Have a great weekend.
