Pretty Pastels

There's always a certain piece of clothing that will instantly make you feel and look good. At the moment, this lilac sheath dress is my pick me up that puts a smile on my face.
Ladies, is there a piece of clothing, shoes or accessory that does the same for you?

  1. Love your DIY dress. How did you make the pattern for it please?

    1. Hi there. I took a sheath dress that fit me well, laid it out on a newspaper and traced around it. I added about an inch seam allowance all over and also for the zipper in the back. In terms of the faux-princess seam, I guessed and drew that one out -- no exact method there. If you Google princess seam, I'm sure someone has done a TUT on it. Sorry I'm not very helpful.

    2. Also the dress is partially lined and hits right above the chest. I used SPG's tutorial! http://t.co/awkvqUhxZn

  3. I love your dress, if I made that, I would definitely wear it with confidence too! Too bad my sewing skills aren't on par with yours.

    1. Thanks, Christine! I just started sewing a few months ago so I'm definitely no pro! You can easily learn to sew your own sheath dress too.

  4. It's the best feeling to wear your own creation. I wish I have more time these days to sew. Love the lilac color on you. Very pretty and feminine. Enjoy the rest of your week, P!

  5. Wearing brighter colors always brings a smile to my face (the green blouse in my outfit here http://ow.ly/ksyLo is a fave). Btw, I am admiring all your recent posts with DIY sewing! I just bought a sewing machine a month ago and having the hardest time getting into it.

    1. Hi Jen! Yay for your new sewing machine! What really helps me is looking at an existing piece of clothing and examining how it was made. A little practice goes a long way too! If you are sewing something and it looks off, just take it apart and redo it again. I have lots of redos! When I started sewing a few months ago, it never crossed my mind that a sheath dress was within my limited sewing capability. So keep at it and be patient with your DIYs. :D
