Aritzia Dress at the Great Gatsby -- Part II

This is Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. It's a beautiful estate and a great venue for parties & weddings! It is one of the oldest landmark in the state was built by James Phelan (California's 1st Senator). Below is a picture of me and Aunt Sheila --she is related to James Phelan. :)

Here's my bf (in white).

On the balcony.

In one of the many rooms.

Someone gave me hat to wear, but I had to take it off because it was really hot & humid outside. I think the feather hair clip looks better and plus I'm not much of a hat person either. I would say a definite no with this outfit don't you think?

  1. Lol... I like how you clarified that your BF is the one in white and not the other guy :P And look... you were taller than Aunt Sheila! :)

  3. I like how the lashes look from sideview. So girly! Last guess~ are they Sunku?

The place is so pretty! Wish we could live in an estate and lounge around all day!

  4. I definitely think the feather hair clip looks better...the hat just doesn't cut it for this outfit. sigh, I love this outfit. One of my favorite style eras is the 20's and I love more modern takes on it.

  6. The hat or the feather accessory, they are both hard tossups in my opinion. LOL did you get to keep the hat? I would wear the hat with skinny pants, heels, and a loose fitting feminine blouse. I've been looking for a hat like that ever since JCrew came up with theirs! It's currently sold out online.

Swanky pictures of the estate! Must have been a really fun party. =0D

  7. PetiteXXS-- lol...i just wanted to clarify just in case :P

Elle-- I agree with you. I think something about the hat threw off the outfit!

Hanna-- I didn't keep the hat since it didn't look good on me. Should I have known you wanted I would have kept it and sent it off to you!

  8. The hat doesn't look that bad on you, but I know what you mean about not being a hat person. I'm not into hats either and don't wear even the ones that people say look really good on me! My only exception is a big floppy hat to protect myself from the sun when I'm outside all day. And in that case, the hat is only for protection!

I love the curls in your hair too! So feminine!!

  11. I love the accessories you chose for the dress! Is that hat navy? That is what throws it off for me.

  14. What great pictures!! and I still love that dress! I really like the Great Gatsby theme. I saw the movie a long time ago and it seems like that house looks very similar to the one in the movie....is it the same?

  15. Callandra -- funny you asked! the movie was actually filmed in the hollywood hills, they should have done it at villa montalvo. well....except villa montalvo doesn't have a swimming pool...which was a very important scene at the end of the movie.
