New Goals for the New Year

Hello Ladies-- I been trying to stay away from reading too many bloggies recently because it's not conducive to my spending habits. It makes me want to buy clothes when I see them look so good on all you ladies.
Since it's the new year, I wanted to set a few goals for myself. Hopefully I can stick to a least a couple of them. Heehee!

Me in Cabo San Lucas -- had so much fun!!!

1. Spend less money on clothes and more on travel. I realized I have so much clothes and none of it really makes me happy. Haha! I love it when I first buy it (I think it's the thrill of spending money), but after a day or 2 I tend to forget about it. I still have new stuff that I haven't worn in my closet. *sigh*
I guess I just want to spend money on things that actually make me happy.
I really love the beach and have been itching to go. The last time I been to the beach was in Cabo of last year. I think I want to set a goal of going to a few countries this year that has beautiful beaches. I wished I had more vacation time because I'd have gone to Cabo this month.
Since I don't, my first destination would be Bali (thanks Sophia for the suggestion). I also saw Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts and thought the place looked amazing! The ideal time to go visit Bali is between May-Sept, so I think I'm gonna go in May (not soon enough!)

2. Work out!
I been away from the gym for way too long. I'm really inactive and such a couch potato. It's about time I started doing something to stay fit and have more energy. I always feel really tired and lethargic, so hopefully working out will increase my energy level.

What I don't want to look like:

What I want to look like:

I know a lot of people (especially boys I know) love Jessical Biel and her body, but I am definitely not a fan. She is so muscular, she looks like she could beat up her bf (Justin Timberlake) --haha! I love Miranda Kerr. She is so beautiful and has the nicest body ever: from her lean & toned arms, her washboard abs and long beautiful legs. Since my face can't change and my boobs & legs won't grow, I'd be happy with having arms and abs like her. Maybe I should color my hair like her too, haha jk!

3. Save more money.
I could save more money if I could avoid being careless and buying things I don't need. I get parking tickets at least every other month and I get into car accidents every year. It's not because I'm Asian and I'm a girl, it's because I'm kind of careless. I'm actually a really good driver and better than my bf (haha and he admits this too!).
I also get suckered into buying things when people sell to me. I have so much makeup and hair products that I don't even use. Sometimes I feel bad because the SA are trying so hard that I'd just cave in and buy it even knowing that I don't need it. I shall practice saying no!

4. Volunteer at a local animal shelter.

My co-worker showed me my horoscope the other day and it said I love dogs more than my family and friends. Haha!! I do love dogs because they're so adorable and are always happy to see you. My ex and I actually had a Maltese together, but I gave the dog back to him. I really miss having a dog run around the house and follow me around. They are such great companions. Since my apartment doesn't allow pets I think the animal shelter will be the closes thing to having a pet.
I did sign up to volunteer for a SPCA awhile back. I got an email back from the volunteer coordinator and she said, you do know that you signed up to volunteer in Carlsbad (near SD) and you're in SF right. Haha! I'm such a ding bat sometimes.

I think that is it for now. I do have more things I want to work on, but easy does it right? Heehee!

  1. Ping I'm sorry to say your body does not show you are a couch potato. LOL! You body already looks like Miranda Kerr's! I loove that swimsuit on you! I agree, I am going to stop the crazy shopping habits although mine is rather cheaper--makeup. Ohh Bali sounds nice. Justin and I were thinking of going there for our honeymoon. I absolutely agree with you that traveling is much more fulfilling than buying stuff. One of my favorites is Okinawa Japan and Kaui Hawaii. I loved Cabo too though, but I really loved Puerto Vallarta. :) That is soo sweet you want to volunteer at an animal shelter! Animals are so precious! :)

  2. Haha here I am again! I agree with you on Miranda Kerr's body. I want a body like that too and my favorite is Nicole Sherzinger's body. I also like Natalie Portman's petite ballerina frame. :)

  4. Great goals! Miranda Kerr is so beautiful! She will probably be back in a size 0 right after giving birth. And yes, we all need to save up more!

  5. Great resolutions Ping! I would love to spend more money on traveling and save a lot more this year instead of just buying more clothes (so hard to resist all the great blogs though...like yours!)

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of clothes of you own, maybe donate them or put together a blog sale (I did that too...need to donate more and continue putting things in my blog sale too).

p.s. you look smoking hot in the beach pic...definitely just as fit as Miranda if not more so. Exercise is great for you and will definitely improve your health but as far as appearance...(I think if you look any hotter in that bikini your bf won't let you on the beach!)

  6. Sounds so similar to what I've been thinking about for the new year too! Totally agree with you about the buff body babes. I much prefer the smaller frames...........which you already have btw ;)

  7. Ping, I love all your goals. I've been staying away from blogs (others and my own) for a similar reason... I feel like I've spent the past few months focusing too much on shopping and adding more and more things to my wardrobe without really needing most of it. Half of this is due to my own inability to control my impulse to spend, but we are definitely the biggest enablers to each other! :)

Saving up for vaykays is definitely one of my biggest goals as well. I realize that I should be spending my hard earned money on really focusing on seeing more of the world since I've done such little traveling to date. Would also love to spend my free time volunteering for a children's non-profit since that's what I want to end up doing later in life!

Yay, your post made me happy because I've been feeling so guilty about not being active with my blogging lately. It's good to get some perspective on what we're doing every once in a while. Good luck with everything!

  8. Great goals! And I agree with the other ladies I think you already look great :) I want to go to Bali too! Jealous that your goal is for May mine isn't until at least next year.

  9. Holy cow, Ping - you have a great bikini body! Maybe I need to get to a gym instead of you LOL. Great resolutions! Best of luck with all of them. I love #4 especially - I used to volunteer at a shelter and now I take care of strays (all outdoors but with shelters/food/heat lamps).

  11. I have to echo everyone else and say that you look great in a bikini already! I'm so envious of your long torso... mine is short so bikinis don't look as good. I love Miranda Kerr too though! She's my favorite VS Angel. :)

  12. I couldn't agree with you more. Instead of spending money on clothes, I put them aside for vacations. I used to travel a lot and I love it. Since we have the little one, it's hard to find a place to visit that both adults and kids would enjoy. Volunteer at a local animal shelter sounds like a wonderful idea. Great resolutions!

  13. YOU ALREADY HAVE FLAT ABS & HOT ARMS. Enough said. ;)

  14. hahah, I dont think JBiel is hot either. Her face is so like whatever to me. boring!!! nothing striking. but then again, neither is cam or brit so mb he just chooses them for their personalities.

Jean and I were talking at the meet-up about itsy teeny bikinis. I said how I just love them (esp the brazilian bottoms) and that she should try Vix bikinis. What's your favorite slinky bikini?

This year, I plan to sport this on some hawaiian beach.

  15. I don't think Biel has a nice body either- she is very manly but thats just me..LOL

I think you have an amazing body!!!

  16. Your body is gorgeous! I love the bathing suit, too!

I know what you mean about wanting to buy clothes after seeing the blogs. Although my spending habits are going up, I am glad I have you ladies, because I feel like my wardrobe is getting so much better, and more appropriate for my size...I no longer settle for items. You especially inspire me...seeing you look so stylish and sexy in your "date night" clothes make me want to add more of those pieces to my wardrobe...I should not just focus on work clothes. You know the saying..."All work and no play, makes Jack a dully boy." :)

Lol! about signing up for Carlsbad! Perhaps you saw "SD" and thought "SF"?!

  17. April--LOL! Oh you guys should go to Bali. Maybe we'll meet you there ;)
I have never been to Japan or Kaui but I been to Maui...I'm sure it's not the same. I'd love to go to Japan though.
I agree with you, all those girls do have nice bodies...*sigh* haha!

Elle-- I am laughing at your last comment. If that would ever happen!!

mich LA-- thanks for sharing too! glad i'm not the only one feeling that way too. i am definitely an impulsive buyer. i been working out and it's been a nice distraction from going to the mall!

SewPetite-- awww you are being too kind! hopefully i can achieve at least half of my goals. i want to get to the volunteering soon!

kileen-- thanks! i assure you my body is FAR from miranda kerr.

aubrey-- don't buy that bathing suit!! haha i actually bought it last year but ended up returning it. the suit runs larger compared to their other bathing suits. i have tried vix before, but don't own one yet. one of my favorite bikini line is Salinas Swimwear. i am eyeing this one - wished it wasn't so expensive!

Michelle--I definitely agree with you about being more picky about fit and not settling with stuff after joining the petite blogging community. it's been very helpful! haha (on the last comment) -- not quite sure what i was thinking!

Thanks everyone else for your words of encouragement! I have started working out this weekend and my body is so sore because I'm not used to it. I am ready to book my flight and hotel to Bali, just waiting for the bf to be on board with me! Hopefully we can have everything booked by the end of the month.

  19. OMG PING - how fun!!! It looks like you had so much fun in Cabo and your bathing suit is SUPER CUTE!!! I know what you mean about spending time on blogger and seeing stuff you would have never thought you would ever want/need...but suddenly you MUST HAVE. Aaaaah! I think I saved myself hundreds by staying away from blogger for a few months...WILL POWER! What a great New Years Resolution! :)

I'm totally with you as far as Jessica Biel vs. Miranda Kerr. Team Miranda, she's so hot! :D PS - your body is totally Miranda Kerr-ish, what are you talking about?!?

Happy New Year, love the new look of your blog too!!! (New banner as well?)

  22. Ping, I'm sooooo glad you told me. Are you serious? It looks so itsy bitsy. Whew! you just saved me the trouble. well Drats! what shall I wear now?

I love Salinas! so many unique prints and style. The one you linked is so cute & fashionable. Look at that brazilian cut bottom! Definitely my style.

I randomly went to a sample sale and they had a ton of Vix bikinis for $50 (top & bottom). Snatched me one, wish I got more...

  25. Yeah I think I'll "settle" for your bikini bod. LOL... Agree with you that I prefer Miranda Kerr's over Jessica Biel's too... not that I can ever get myself to work out that much to get either :X

I hate to say it but I'm with you on #1. Love reading blogs but it has lead to accumulation of tons of clothes in my closet I still haven't worn yet. I'm not exactly on a shopping ban but I am consciously trying to control my spending!

  26. Have you been to Cancun before? It's beautiful and the nightlife is so much fun. I think it's the most fun city in Mexico but I've never been to other cities in Mexico. Yeah, agree about Jessica Biel, her body is not sexy. Agree with the above poster- I want a body like Maggie Q or Camilla Belle- thin, tone, but still look hot. Your dog is super cute!
