Long and Lean

Hi everyone! I been away for a bit due to some dental work. I'm in the process of getting my teeth straightened! I had 4 bicuspids extracted to allow more room for my overcrowded front teeth. I'd have to say that was a pretty painful process. If anyone says otherwise, they are lying. Before my extraction, I made my dentist promise me a prescription of vicodins. Boy, did those come handy! HAHA! I do have braces on (towards the back), but you can't tell unless I purposely smile really really big. I think I'm going to have to wear these braces for 4-6 months and then I switch over to invisalign. I only had my braces on for 3 days and I can't wait to get rid of them already. It's been SO painful to eat! I can't chew or bite into anything so I have been on a liquid diet. Every night before I go to bed, I think about all the yummy food I can go back to eating when my teeth feels better! HAHA!!

Wearing:
Gap 1969 Lightweight Long & Lean Jeans. Currently $29.99. Size 00R. I bought these actually a couple of month ago in store for $27. I went into the store yesterday and they were on sale for $13!! In terms of sizing, the waist is a tad big and the inseam is pretty long (33" inseam). I had it shorten about 3" and kept the original seam. I do love how comfy they are. They feel more like thick stretch pants rather than jeans. I noticed after taking pics that my pants got caught in the buckle of my sandals causing the bunching on the bottom. The jeans do drape nicer in real life. :)
Loft Bow V-Neck Shell. Size XXSP.
Aritzia/Wilfred Boil Wool Blazer. Size 0. (similar here & here)
Nine West "Metric" Wedge Sandals - Size 5.5. Runs true to size.
FP Fan Earrings. (similar here & here)

  1. I was wondering where Ping is =) Don't get me started on wearing braces. I wore them for 7 months and I was done. I told my dentist to take them off when I supposed to wear those braces for 2 full years. I couldn't eat anything after the appointments. Hope your appointments will get better. Love your outfit! Very chic!

  3. Love the outfit!! You look great. Getting 4 bicuspids extracted is awful. I been there and done that in high school. I can imagine how much pain you are going through. Hope you can go back to eating soon.

  4. Braces are the worst... but luckily you only have them in the back!! It will definitely be worth it in the end though, trust me! It gets better. :)

I love that bright red top with the bow! Great outfit!
Hope you're having a great new year so far, minus the dental work! haha!

  6. I totally sympathize - I got braces after college. They had to remove my wisdom teeth and 4 other teeth due to overcrowding. Then I had braces for 2.5 years :( Hope you start to feel better soon!

I went to LOFT yesterday and saw the shirt you're wearing here. It was a must-buy since you make it look so good! Love the jeans - definitely lives up to its name.

  9. I need to get my teeth straightened too...I think I have overcrowding problems as well. Sigh, I thought getting my wisdom teeth pulled two years ago was bad enough...

I love how the gap jeans fit you and for that price it's a terrific deal!

    1. aww elle, if your teeth doesn't bother you too much i probably wouldn't go through this experience! one of my tooth was losing bone and needed extraction anyway. i had to get an implant (to replace the tooth) which is pretty expensive. my dentist suggested i get braces instead. so i thought that was a better alternative than getting an implant.

  11. I had to have 4 permanent molars removed due to overcrowding and then had braces as a little kid. My senior year in high school a gap started to appear between my front teeth because my teeth were now loosely spaced. I actually had to get braces again for 4-6 months to solve the problem. Oh the horror to have braces as a senior! And I actually think the pain is easier to deal with as a kid too. But it isn't forever and I think the results are worth it! Good luck!

    1. oh no! that's awful that you had to wear braces for a 2nd time. my ortho scared me with stories about patients having to get braces a 2nd time because they didn't wear their retainers. so i'm definitely wearing my retainers! can't imagine have to go through this more than i have to.

  13. hi ping! i love your blog! :) just a word of encouragement...i had the exact SAME procedure for dental work! i had 4 teeth extracted, was in braces for 6 months (just in the back like you), and i'm now in invisalign. i have one more year in invisalign. so far, i'm happy with the results. but it's been a long journey! i absolutely hated my braces when i had them as well...even though they were just in the back! hang in there!

    1. thanks so much for sharing your experience! glad to hear i'm not the only one with this procedure. i went to a few orthos and they wanted me to steer clear of invisalign and to wear only braces. i totally don't like the looks of the traditional braces and was so glad to find an ortho who was willing to work with me and find the right solution that fits what i was looking for. how does wearing invisalign feel compared to the braces btw?

    2. i completely agree! they told me that if i wore braces during the whole term it'd probably be faster, but i'm 31 years old and i really just didn't feel comfortable having traditional braces. i'm very petite, and look too young to begin with. to add braces to the mix, i'd look even younger! anyway, to your question, invisalign is SO much better! the mere fact that you can take them in and out to eat is a dream. no more food getting stuck in the braces, and no pesky wires poking the insides of your mouth. don't worry, you're getting the worse part overwith! :)

  14. Good luck with your dental and orthodontic work!!! I just want to say it is incredibly all worth it! I had adult braces taken off last year (after two years), a bone graft, failed dental implant, and continuing surgeries...but my teeth look far improved now. Btw, thanks for the jeans! I'm going to order a pair right now. :)
